A Lesson
Don't be ashamed of your mistakes. Take it as an invitation to learn something new and be more mindful of your choices in the future. We all have made decisions we regret on some level or another, so rejoice in the comfort of good company. I'm going to let you all in on one of my embarrassing fuck ups (and trust me, I have many).I should preface this by saying, I love reading and writing. If you don't believe me, I have friends and transcripts that confirm in my senior year of high school, I took four english classes by choice. I'm the nerd that loves shaming people who can't get there/their/they're correct, and that general sort of thing. So, get ready to cringe guys; I have a grammar error tattooed on my rib. I'm too ashamed to admit what the mistake is, but I've fallen in love with my daily reminder to be more careful and observant. It also reminds my that I'm human. My deepest, darkest secret is now out and I own it. I'm allowed to make mistakes, the world won't end.
The Lovers
Typically, The Lovers represent relationships and choices. The illustration on the card suggests that a choice must be made between two lovers. Some may interpret it as a decision of vice or virtue, or mother and lover. The card doesn't necessarily place an importance on the decision itself, rather on why the decision is important to you as an individual. Having to chose between two things means having to define personal values. This is important when it comes to relationship choices, even if it's not a romantic one. Values change the perspective you approach crossroads with and can ultimately be the deciding factor in the path you take.TLDR; Stay true to you. Listen to your heart.
Hey Sarah, I really enjoyed reading your blog entries and talking to you in class. As I learn video production, I'm really struggling with guilt/frustration around not already knowing everything. It may sound silly, but I think it's kind of the American way to want to be the best at something super fast. Thanks for reminding me that kind of thing isn't ideal or necessary.
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for future Tarot decks to check out, perhaps take a look at the Thoth deck, as designed by Alistair Crowley (who was quite the character). It has my favorite art of any deck I've seen so far. Angeles Arrien's famous "Tarot Handbook" uses the Thoth deck as its focus, and the book is well worth your time if you haven't already looked at it.
Good luck with all your schoolwork! I think you'll find great success in this field.
